Competition Scholars Club (CSC)
The Competition Scholars Club (CSC) is a leadership program for students to promote academic competitions at their schools, building a global network.
Applying to be a CSC President
- Submit your application at www.algoed.co/start-a-competition-scholars-club.
CSC Time Commitment
- Expect 2-5 hours per week, depending on your involvement—e.g., planning events, hosting club meetings, joining meetings with other presidents around the world.
- It's flexible: Delegate tasks to an executive team for lighter personal load, such as forming subcommittees for outreach or prep sessions.
CSC Requirements and Approval
- Secure a faculty advisor and at least 5 interested students to form the chapter.
- Follow social media guidelines: Instagram is encouraged for promotion; LinkedIn requires school approval.
- Advertising: Use school emails, fairs, or proposals (reviewed in fall) to build awareness.
Starting CSC Mid-Year
- Yes, you can start later in the school year without losing status—focus initially on recruiting and building connections.
Multiple CSC Leaders Per School
- Typically one president per school, but co-presidents are possible if the current one agrees.
- Alternatives: Join as an executive board member; contact support@algoed.co to connect with the existing president.
CSC Responsibilities
- Establish and grow your chapter with AlgoEd's support materials.
- Recruit an executive team to share duties.
- Host info sessions, prep events, and awareness drives for competitions like Harvard Crimson Quiz Bowl.
- Foster engagement to help peers access Ivy League mentorship and exclusive resources.
Overcoming CSC Obstacles
- If facing challenges like exams or low engagement, email support@algoed.co for extensions or advice.
- If unable to continue, notify support to step down gracefully without impacting your record.
